I think it's likely that Germans have mentally filed both religions away as something rather strange (not that it is, just that they consider it to be) to be found (primarily) in the US, without really processing much else. The theological differences are signficant, but I haven't found Germans to be to up on that sort of thing- the Amish belong to the Täufer/Wiedertäufer branch of standard trinitarian Protestantism. You're better off sticking to the buggies and the movie "Witness". re: mental filing - I have a terrible time with Sonjas, Simones and Sandras because for me, all three are in the mental drawer labeled "generic German female first name, ca. 1970".

I miss Tamara's blog, is she done blogging? I loved hearing about the kids adventures in school, etc. I wish my kids had the oportunity to attend school in Germany.

@Nicole --- I miss Tamara's blog too!!!! Thanks for the nice comment!

@Ann on A Moose --- the logic behind your statement makes sense to me too. I was tired of being "lumped" into one category, though the Amish are very good company in my opinion. It was just the "lumping" itself, not who mormons are lumped with that got to me.
